So, I've registered for next semester's classes. It didn't give me the thrill that it usually does, considering I'm having such a poor semester, but whatever.
The Schedule:M,W:0900-0950: PHI 102 - Industry, Society, and Justice
1000-1115: ENG 234 - American Literature 1920-1945

R:1100-1215: PHI 104 - Ideal of Democracy
1400-1450: MAT 120 - Finite Mathematics
F:0900-0950: PHI 102 - Industry, Society, and Justice
1400-1450: MAT 120 - Finite Mathematics
--- --- ---
Yes, I'm an idiot for trying to take Finite Mathematics again, considering I dropped it after three class periods this semester. The professor hasn't been assigned to that class yet, though, so I'm hoping I'll get someone other than who I had this semester. We'll see. The point is, I need the Gen. Ed. math credit, and I really don't want to have to take calculus to get it.
I'm not so excited about my major courses for next semester. I'm sure the literature class will be interesting at some points and hellishly tedious at others, and no one in their right mind should have a love of semantics, in my opinion. But maybe that's just me.
I
am incredibly excited about my other Gen. Ed.s -- Ideal of Democracy? H'yeah. I will peown that class so hard. Industry, Society, and Justice will be a bit challenging for me, just because I've never really gotten to know the governmental system of the U.S. on an intimate level... I'm still no good with checks and balances, et cetera. But it promises to be interesting, at least.
--- --- ---
Dad's taking me out tonight (finally) for my extremely belated birthday dinner. We're going to get Thai... which I love immensely and am too poor to purchase on even an occasional basis. I'll be able to hand over my sliced credit card and talk to him about this semester and what I'm doing to salvage it. Admittedly, I'm working at a decent rate in some classes to catch up; in others, I've abandoned what little hope I had. My dramatic lit teacher has already made it clear that she isn't willing to work with me and that I will suffer the full consequences of missing more than four class periods -- ie, I will fail the class whether I like it or not, even if I ace the rest of the assignments and the tests this semester. So, there's that. I'll try not to piss Dad off too much, since I also need him to take me to Best Buy and Jewel, for a phone card and booze respectively.
The past couple weeks have been a blur, and this weekend promises to be no different. I semi-successfullly split my time between several people last weekend. I got to see Kiri on Friday and Saturday, and that went well. I got to see Erik for such short periods of time on Friday and Saturday that I think he must have forgotten that he saw me at all (as evidenced by my absence from his most recent weekend-related blog post -- tear!). Alyssa I didn't get to see at all despite making plans with her, but I assume she had more important ones. Not so surprising.
This weekend, Chrissy is coming back in town. I hope I'll get to see her on Friday, but depending on how things go for her with someone else, I might not get to. I plan to spend most of the weekend with her and her cousins and have therefore cancelled or rescheduled most of my other plans. I haven't told Little Dude that I'll be completely busy all weekend, but I trust he'll find out when he tries to call me and I don't answer! Byah!

Some quotational gems from this evening:
"Eve.
Eve! You heffer!" - A to the dog
"Mmm, want a gusher?" - C to the dog
A: "I'm just sayin' -- you get to meet another part of my family..."
C: "Hmm. That's always fun."
A: "Well, it's interesting, at least."
C: "It's 'interesting' if I keep my mouth shut."
[That's real conversation for your ass.]

Sweet! Just located my headphones. Bonjour, iTunes. Timpossible CD Mix Collection is nearly complete. I just need to find that check again, buy some postage, and
voila! Can you say cheapened tastes? I can. Why did I start listening to progressive trance?
Why? It's so misunderstood.
Had a decent day today... My second oral interp performance was just as rocky as my first, but whatever. I have a couple left to wow the professor, and I know I have it in me. For some reason, I got an extraordinary case of stage fright -- or maybe it wasn't even that, maybe it was some sort of a weird random anxiety attack with no apparent cause? Anyway, I started feeling the kind of anxiety one might experience when a fist is flying toward one's face... I felt very light-headed during my performance as well, and I was sweating like a pig. Pretty weird if you ask me. Performance has always made me quite nervous, but never debilitatingly so.
Byah.
Missed a floor meeting tonight. What else is new?
Pasteurized grape draynk.

Got an e-mail from my dad yesterday. He's of the opinion (and I agree) that my credit card should be cancelled. Sometimes, though, I don't like the self-righteous way he interacts with me. Yes, I understand that he has 30+ more years of experience in the world than I do, but I don't think that necessarily gives him the right to constantly make me feel like I'm a dumbass. My VISA bills get mailed to his office, as do my bank statements. He opens them, reads them, and will then inform me that I have to come get them and pay for them. This system would work, in theory, if I wasn't so convinced at this point that he opens and reads my mail just so he can look for reasons to be disappointed in me. He accused me in his last e-mail of not paying my VISA bill at all, which is untrue -- of course I did. It was a little late, which is bad, but if he just would have called and asked, I could have told him that I have a
copy of the check I wrote for that bill. What sucks is that he'll get it, read it, and then he'll tell me to come and get it, and then about 50 percent of the time when I go to retrieve things from him, he isn't in. I hate having to make
appointments to retrieve my bills, quite frankly. On Monday, I'm cancelling my credit card and I'm also going to reroute my bank statements through the credit union to be delivered to my campus address. I've alerted my dad to both these developments, and he hasn't really seen fit to respond. I returned his first e-mail with a call to emphasize the fact that I
do pay my bills; he could tell I was very upset, and he said: "Uh, well, I'm watching my nephew on the internet, so I can't talk right now."
Yeah, your kid is crying, and your nephew's hockey career is more important. Gee, thanks, Dad. Boy, do I feel great! Make me feel like even more of a failure, why don't you?
Ugh.

I checked out an interesting
Facebook group today called: "
I Want the Truth About 9/11". On the page, there are several links to some videos, some of which are longer than two hours. The first one below is a pretty interesting lecture I just watched; the second one is a more polished attempt to express some theories about 9/11. I appreciate the passion of many of the people who create these projects... At the same time, something in my gut sort of twitches every time I see a misspelled word in a quote on screen, et cetera -- which is why I like the lecture a bit more than the other videos which attempt to employ any sort of basic video editing, even though it is a bit difficult to watch a guy lecture for a couple hours, especially considering he keeps getting feedback on his mic.
By the way, if anyone has any interest in joining the aforementioned Facebook group, it should be pretty easy, now that Facebook is no longer a college social network and is open to the public.
So much of this is so confusing to me. Part of the argument concerning any sort of conspiracy theory regarding 9/11 relies on calling into question documents put out by the government or spun by the media, but largely what is being used as evidence are government documents and news stories. I appreciate that people have questions and concerns about 9/11 and the current administration -- I myself have a lot, but sometimes I just feel like I'm just the victim of an opposing spin when I put a lot of stock in the opinions of people like Ruppert and Jones -- no closer or further away to the actual truth of anything. It's so hard to prove anything in this country these days; I just wish that someone would ask questions without immediately feeling like he or she should provide his or her own answers, you know?
Maybe I'm just crazy? I honestly do believe that our civilization has reached a pinnacle of decadence. My stomach sinks into my heels every time I think about the various directions this country is attempting to go. I understand that it's difficult, though, to be confronted with all of this information, even if it is the truth -- no one wants to believe her or himself to be an ignorant pawn. Heck!
Michael Ruppert's lecture
Alex Jones' TerrorStorm videoEnh. Not much has gone on today. I'll admit that I missed a couple classes... but I got a lot done for one at least, so I'm not too worried. A bunch of people are coming home this weekend, including (but not limited to) Erik, Kiri, and Will. Awesomeness.

So, this weekend in Carbondale went pretty well, until Zhora and I left to come back here. Apparently, I was excited about it for nothing -- I thought that he was taking me to visit one of my friends out of the kindness of his heart and a desire to spend time with me. But, no. Apparently, Kiri reminds him of one of his ex-girlfriends who he "still has feelings for" -- and he just wanted to go down there to check her out.
Nice.
Of course, he has no idea that I have any romantic history with Kiri, so that just makes things even more awkward.
Honestly, I'm sad, but I'm not that disappointed or surprised, in retrospect. In relationships, I always tend to be the woman that people are with while they're waiting to find the woman (or man) they want. It's not that Zhora has any interest in Kiri herself per se (seeing as he's only met her twice), but the association is so powerful that he doesn't want to see her again -- it upsets him to look at her and remember his girlfriend from Latvia. How childish and stupid.
I haven't called him since he brought me home. I don't know if I'm waiting for him to call me... I don't know if he will. I don't even know if I want him to, really. I've noticed a slow decline into sadness and feelings of inadequacy since I met him. He's terrible for me and to me, pretty much. He "really likes" me, but I can tell that there's no potential for actual love. I don't know if he's capable of loving anyone right now -- he's so absorbed in his own problems and plans. He says he likes spending time with me because I'm smart, but obviously he still thinks I'm dumber than he is -- he likes trying to pull the wool over my eyes. He doesn't want me to know that he's ashamed to be seen with me. A little while ago, he told his friend, when asked, that he's no longer sleeping with me. That's a lie. Now I know why he makes me sleep by myself when he invites me over to spend the night with him and his roommate shows up.
I'm so exhausted with people in general in any romantic context. I just want to go over to Chad's, enjoy some recreation, and not have to worry about my weight or my skin or if I sound like a complete idiot to this strange foreign guy who honestly doesn't give two shits about me past the fact that I'm something to pass the time with when he's bored. Not even some
one -- something. An activity apparently without human feelings and any amount of perception.
I'm left wondering why I've let this guy treat me like garbage for so long.

See you on Monday!

I had a productive day and a relaxing night. Elation! I actually went to all of my classes, set up meetings with the professors I needed to, and I think I did well on my Human Sexuality test... Awesomeness! If I just step it up a notch, I'm sure I can salvage my semester at least a little bit!
Around dinner-time, I went downstairs to get something to eat while Teryn was on the phone. Chad called; he, Michael and Lunch Box ended up coming to pick me up. I got a belated birthday gift from Chad that makes me very happy! We just sat around, and I got to have a nice chat with him and Amanda. Chad is going to go to the court house tomorrow to take care of his dad's death certificate, so he'll gain access to what he's inheriting... With a small portion of the money, he's going to get the BMW logo tattooed on his right elbow, but instead of "BMW" it's going to say "DAD". He asked me if I would like to come with him. I felt weirdly honored -- it'll be good practice for me too, since I eventually want a sizeable tattoo on my back. I need to work up my courage. My family seal is
rather intricate, and I'm actually torn between that design and
a slightly different one -- technically, the Irish clan is a more recent version of the Scottish clan, from which all Armstrongs are descended, so they have a couple of variations on their seal. I'm a fan of the motto, at least, and I think it would be something pretty inspirational and beautiful to have on my body. We'll see if I have the resources/courage to get it in a few years, though.
Anyway, Little Dude picked me up from Chad's, and we went to Steak&Shake to have good talks and eat mediocre food. When he drove me home, he parked and asked me to sit in the car with him for a little while to listen to parts of a new mp3 cd he just burned for himself. I can tell from listening to one of the mixes he made on equipment in Latvia of a few of his favorite songs that he's a talented beat manager.
He asked me to check out prices for hotels in and around Carbondale -- I'm still leaning toward Motel 6 in Marion because of the price... I'm a little bit worried, just because Swedish has rehearsal all day Saturday before her show, so I'm going to have to figure out what Zhora and I can do with our day. I know what
I want to do -- go to the university gallery and the museum... but I'm not sure if Zhora would be down for that. There are also apparently some pretty beautiful parks and public gardens down there. Enh, I'll talk to him about it.
Zhora's family is coming to visit in November -- his dad, his mom, and his grandma. His dad is looking for a place to rent over here -- apparently, he's going to be staying in town for six months! I'm so excited for Zhora! I know he's missed his family terribly during the eight months he's been here.
Hm. Sleepy.
Edit: I received postage and pictures from Tim today... I'd better get to work burning CDs!

The Little Man With the Big Plan
"Wouldn't it suck if you had to poop from five places at once?" - T.B.
I've had an adventurous past few days. I'm not doing too well in my classes right now, but I'm working on turning that around; I figure I can at least salvage a C-average semester from this wreck. Shame on me for not having my priorities straight!
Went to a party on Sunday night, late. Bad idea. Bad, bad, bad. Especially since the people who
drove here to pick me up were already rather drunk. Damn my conscience.
I had good talks with Little Dude last night -- the little man with the big plan. He's decided not to move to Seattle, and to stay in town for at least a couple more years. I don't know exactly how this is going to affect our relationship... We'll just have to see. I'm still not sure if I'm ready to legitimately date someone, but, as Teryn pointed out, for all intents and purposes, we pretty much are dating.
His big plans include working up to a managerial position at Rosatti's (not as difficult as it sounds, considering he's making the business $1000 a day as a driver). Then he wants to buy some space in downtown Normal and make it into a club! One of his new friends from work is willing to throw in with him, and Zhora has relatives and friends in this country who can give him advice about getting the money for such an endeavor. He's said that he wants to train me as a DJ once he gets some equipment, too!
This weekend, we're heading down to Carbondale to see Swedish -- she's got a show on Saturday, so that should be pretty cool. We'll likely only stay one night, probably at the Motel 6 in Marion. Yay for adventures (especially those that come free of cost for me because of Zhora's traditionalist chivalry-influenced tendencies). W00t.
We were over at his friend West's apartment last night -- that was an evening well-spent, I think. It was nice and mellow; we played some pool (Zhora and I lost, like, five times in a row to West and his girlfriend), and some Foosball, at which West is talented to an almost professional extent. I have to admit that I felt a little trepidatious going over there, just because Zhora mentioned that West is a reformed drug dealer who has done some time. But when we got over there, I was very surprised. He immediately offered Zhora some beer, and then he looked at me and was like, "Can I get you some soda? You don't look twenty-one."
I can't tell you how refreshing it is to be refused alcohol in a private setting. Somehow, that single thing put me completely at ease.
I've actually decided that I don't want to drink alcohol at all, except for the occasional glass of wine. As an intoxicant, it's too volatile and unpredictable, and it has nasty side-effects. So, yeah. It's not as if I have a history of being a particularly rampant boozer, though, so whatever. Not a big deal!

Instead of doing homework, I thought overhauling my template was a good idea... and I was almost too lazy to even do
that, hence the simplicity of the "design". Sigh.
