Blarghhh... Government.

I checked out an interesting Facebook group today called: "I Want the Truth About 9/11". On the page, there are several links to some videos, some of which are longer than two hours. The first one below is a pretty interesting lecture I just watched; the second one is a more polished attempt to express some theories about 9/11. I appreciate the passion of many of the people who create these projects... At the same time, something in my gut sort of twitches every time I see a misspelled word in a quote on screen, et cetera -- which is why I like the lecture a bit more than the other videos which attempt to employ any sort of basic video editing, even though it is a bit difficult to watch a guy lecture for a couple hours, especially considering he keeps getting feedback on his mic.

By the way, if anyone has any interest in joining the aforementioned Facebook group, it should be pretty easy, now that Facebook is no longer a college social network and is open to the public.

So much of this is so confusing to me. Part of the argument concerning any sort of conspiracy theory regarding 9/11 relies on calling into question documents put out by the government or spun by the media, but largely what is being used as evidence are government documents and news stories. I appreciate that people have questions and concerns about 9/11 and the current administration -- I myself have a lot, but sometimes I just feel like I'm just the victim of an opposing spin when I put a lot of stock in the opinions of people like Ruppert and Jones -- no closer or further away to the actual truth of anything. It's so hard to prove anything in this country these days; I just wish that someone would ask questions without immediately feeling like he or she should provide his or her own answers, you know?

Maybe I'm just crazy? I honestly do believe that our civilization has reached a pinnacle of decadence. My stomach sinks into my heels every time I think about the various directions this country is attempting to go. I understand that it's difficult, though, to be confronted with all of this information, even if it is the truth -- no one wants to believe her or himself to be an ignorant pawn. Heck!

Enh. Not much has gone on today. I'll admit that I missed a couple classes... but I got a lot done for one at least, so I'm not too worried. A bunch of people are coming home this weekend, including (but not limited to) Erik, Kiri, and Will. Awesomeness.

There isn't any way to sort out what really happened on 9/11, but suffice to say it wasn't a big conspiracy because that would have come out in lots of small ways. There may be some behind the scenes stuff (who knew what when), but orchestration on that level is beyond our government and really anybody's. The great language scholar and radical Noam Chomsky says there is no reason to put much credence in the conspiracy theories, the actual world is already bad enough. In those kind of events there is always a lot of detritus, information-wise. Unexplained bits of things. Like the bones in the manhole yesterday in NYC. Still there is information that makes you doubt. That is the nature of the rational mind. It is good to doubt, to not close the mind. It is bad to obsess on things that cannot be functionally processed.
